Secret's Cat Tale

Secret came from my breeder friend, Pam. His mom, Katie, is an F2 (or second generation from the Asian Leopard Cat), and runs freely in the house. She is this large wild looking cat, who is just the sweetest thing. From one of her last litters came 4 kittens. 2 females, and 2 males. With the hybrids, you never know if they will be fertile, especially the males. Depending where they get their "balls" from, depends on if they shot the real thing or blanks.

Well, my husband really liked one of the boys. Normally I would never have looked at getting an F3 male, especially with the problems I just told you about. But, he wanted him, and how could I argue about getting another little face. He wasn't quite ready to leave home yet, so I had to leave him there. Sniff......

Pam was going to Germany one more time to meet her daughters fiancée (both daughter and fiancée are in the military), and the kittens were getting sick from mom's milk. She asked if I would take care of the litter (basically weaned), as no one was staying in their home while they were gone. Not a problem. We enjoyed having the little babies at the house, and he was close enough in age to Diamond and Camille. We got the kittens to eat solid foods, and they were all getting along great together.

Of course, I could have kept all the kittens, and just eaten them all up daily. But, one of the girls was to leave for England in about a month after Pam got home from her trip, and the other female was already sold to some one else. The other male, well, he was bought by some friends of ours. My husband came up with Secret Weapon as his name, just in case he really shot the full load. His brother's name is Lethal Weapon. Aren't we all so cleaver with the names?

Today, Secret still shots blanks (darn), but I have made the decision to keep him whole. He can take females out of heat that I don't want to get pregnant at that time. He gets to have fun, and helps me out too! Secret is a definite sprayer, and has to stay in the boy room. He is the largest cat I have, and probably weighs in at around 20 pounds. That is extremely large for any breed. He is my sweet baby boy, who gives me head butts when I clean his room on my hands and knees. I even get head butts when he gets a bath!
