Once upon a time......there was a breeder named Jean Mill, who had a sorrel (red) male she called Sonny. She wanted to breed this boy to a marble female who had horizontal markings. My friend, Pam, had such a female named Miera. When the litter was born, she had 2 kittens. A sorrel spotted and a seal lynx spotted. Not a marble in the bunch. My first sighting of Bear was when he was about a month old. I held this little ball of white fluff in my hands and really fell in love. Alas, I wasn't breeding for snows, and we wanted to be selective with our Bengal purchases. Oh, my heart really wanted him so badly. He was old enough to go to a new home, and Pam took him to a cat show to see if she could sell him. Not too many spectators there, and Bear came home with her. Whew! We took a drive to visit Bear, and to see what kind of a price we would pay for him. His markings weren't very distinctive, which isn't unusual for a lynx point. They are the lightest of the snows, and can take up to 2 years to get their full markings to show. Any way, there was Bear, only bigger than the first time I held him in my hands. Those blue eyes could just melt your heart. We struck a bargain, and Bear was on the way home with us. We thought we might try to use him to breed. Pam was already calling him Bear, so I just expanded it to be Bearon Von Snow. Yes, I know that isn't how you spell Baron, but my way is so much more cleaver, don't you think? Well, Bear got bigger, but his markings never did come in very good. He did try to breed with the girls I put with him, but he could just never figure out where to put "it". Left the girls a little high and dry, so to speak. After Bear was 2, and he never successfully bred any of the girls, (and believe me, I did put in my best sluts with him) I had him altered. Today, Bear is enjoying the good life of food and the wonderful hammocks he just loves to hang out in. He never did spray in the house, but he did (and still does) pee on things. I have to keep him in the boy room, but I do have visiting girls who are in heat or pregnant to stay with him. Usually Diamond and he hang out together. I would love to have Bear run free in the house again, but maybe some day, we will get a large outdoor enclosure for him to play in. He is such a sweet boy, and we have our meal ritual of.....I put down the plate of food, and he stands over it until I pet and give him loves. When I am done, he will start to eat. How special is that?!
