Pet Expo Show Report

What a weekend! Lots to see and do - and not just at the cat show. When I could sneak away, I would look at the rest of the exhibits at the Pet Expo. It was great to see all my Catatonic friends there over the weekend. We owe a wonderful thumbs up to Connie Pealer for heading up the Bengal Booth there, and especially for the folks with Pet Expo for inviting TICA to put on the show this year. I would also like to thank Shirley Piper and Kathy Krysta for the ICAT. It was a great success, and the spectators really enjoyed seeing the cats going through their paces. The comments from the spectators was, this show is much more friendly than the ones in the past.

Before I start with who was there, etc, I want to let you all know a couple of sad things happened this past weekend. First, June Wilson of Catspaw Bengals was in a really bad car accident on the way down to the show. She never made it. I don't have all the details, but she is in the hospital with 7 broken ribs, bruised kidney (I think) and ruptured spleen. Any one in the northern California area - I believe Paradise, CA - that can help out with her cats, it would be wonderful. If any one can coordinate help for June - please post it to the list. For those of us who know June, she is a sweet lady and has beautiful cats too.

The other sad news is, Pam Sharp's mom died Saturday. For those of us who knew her, she was affectionately known to us all as Grandma. For many years she would come to the shows with Pam, and would just be a delight to visit with. She was a victim of Alzheimer's, and was 93 when she died. If any one wishes to send Pam a card, please E me privately, and I will give you her address. She is having a private ceremony for her mom with a few friends and family.

Back to the show report. There were amazing cats and kittens at this show. I was showing 3 kittens, so I really didn't get a chance to see the adult judging. When I did get the opportunity to sit in, I was really impressed with the beautiful babies! How can any of the judges pick one over the others is beyond me. With that said, let's get on with who was there . . .

My kids held their own in division and a couple of breed placings as well. No finals for them at this show, but that's okay. They all behaved well for the judges, and when they grow up they will get their share of the finals. In the meantime, I will enjoy my weekends with the kids.

I would also like to say goodbye to some wonderful friends to us in the Southern California shows. John & Virginia Murtlow will be moving to Indiana within the next couple months. They have been wonderful friends to me - helped me though some really tough times in my life - and have showed some really extraordinary snows. I know they will be looking for shows in their new home, so for those of you that will have the privilege to meet them, please make them feel welcome. I will miss them greatly!

Thanks again to all who were at the show, and sharing your beautiful babies with us all. I absolutely love being a part of this breed, and I thank you all for continuing the quest for excellence!

pawprint With warmest of spotted bellies!
