Arcadia Show Report

I would like to let you all know who weren't in Arcadia this weekend, it snowed! Yes it did! We had the largest showing of snow cats and kittens, and they did really well too! This was a wonderful showing of the Bengal breed with a gazillion adults and 8 kittens. Okay, I exaggerated on the adult number, but there was a HUGE class. They were all just beautiful, and let me tell you, the judges had one heck of a time trying to place color ribbons on them. I was showing both an adult and kitten, and I even had a chance to watch entire classes of both being judged.

Now for my bit of personal opinions, feelings, and general ramblings of a crazy lady. There was an unpleasant comment made by a breeder, which I won't say who, that was after the judging felt that their cat should have won. The part that upset me the most was, it was said out loud where lots of people could hear it. My feelings of that are, if you can't come to enjoy the show why bother to come? The winning of the rosettes are the extra perk or icing on the cake. Any one who feels that only their cat deserves to win needs a check on reality. I didn't make any comments to the breeder, but I really thought that was uncalled for.

This show was a much needed breath of fresh air for me. I have had some pretty rough days that have kept me pretty weepy. My dad's birthday was March 22nd, and not being to call him any more was very difficult to get through the day. The next day, I had to put my Springer down, which carried over from the day before, really hit hard. My birthday came and went, and not being able to get my birthday call from them was very hard. I guess I could have taken their urns out of my closet and talked to them, but it would have been a one sided conversation. I also think that Daddy likes being on top of Mommy - oops! Did I say that? Being with Saiph, and having our special time really restores my soul. Also, seeing every one at the show was great. No Saiph didn't win any rosettes, but I don't care. He is such a beautiful boy, a cuddle bug, and gives the best head butts any where.

Oh, just to let those of you at the show know, I did get my new cat tree home safe and sound. Apache appreciates having his new piece of furniture in his room. To let the rest of you in on this. . . The big raffle prize today was a 5 foot cat tree. That was the only prize. I bought $10 worth of tickets, and they were the first ones to be dropped in the bucket. When they finally did the drawing, the vendor who made and donated the cat tree did the drawing. I have bought many pieces from him, and told my X-husband that I won them in the raffle. Well, I finally really won a piece of cat furniture! You could have blown me over with a feather! I had many volunteers to help me find a place for this cat tree - however, it wasn't at my house. Gee, good thing I have a truck!

Thank you all for sharing your absolutely gorgeous cats and kittens with us this weekend. Each show just gets better and better with the babies that are shown. How the judges can made a choice is almost impossible. I look forward to the next show, where I can have my Saiph time, and enjoy visiting with the breeders and seeing the beautiful cats they bring.

pawprint With warmest of spotted bellies!
