Arcadia Show Report

Hi all. My head is still spinning from the show this weekend, and there isn't enough coffee to help clear my mind. It was so much easier when I was a blonde!

There were so many beautiful cats and kittens at this show. How the judges could chose one over any of the others was way beyond me! It was wonderful to see so many of my breeder friends there. Leslie Hall, after a long absence from showing was there. I was showing in both the Adult and Kitten classes, and I really never saw 1 entire class at one sitting. Murphy's law of showing is, as soon as you sit down for a ring, you will be called for another one.

Okay, lots of names to type so here I go. Starting with the kitten class (that was the largest), we were represented by: Bangles Edmund Hilliary, owner - Jay Bangle; Wildgold's Hercules, owner - Canie Victoria Brooks; Spothaven Coppertop, owner - Diana Starr ---that was the Brown Marble division --- Summermist Streatch Limousine, owner - Sheila & John Fowler; Silvergene Reyna of Silverglow, owner - Lanette & Monte Burke; Elitebengals Harry Potter, owner - Juan & Maribel Gonzalez; Gogees Renaissance of Calcatta, owner - Christina Dahleen; Summermist Long Stem Rosettes, owner - Sheila & John Fowler; Mainstreet Delta Force Summermist, owner - Sheila & John Fowler; Dreamland Fireball, owner - Chuck & Connie Pealer; Nancats Amber Lace, owner - Nancy Healy; Calcatta Custom Made, owner - Christina Dahleen; Goldenmagi Praha, owner - Pam Sharp; A male kitten with name pending, owner - Lanette & Monte Burke; Dreamland Revlation of Marblerose, owner - Anette & Robert Sanchez; Mainstreet's Wild Idea, owner - Rick & Debbie Corns; Dawnstar Clean the Midway, owner - Anita Klinger; Merkaba Rumpleteazer, owner - Steven Thornton; Stonehenge Wurthawate of Snowpride, owner - Margie Heil; Millwood Jazz Beat, owner - Jean Mill; Millwood Epitimee, owner - Jean Mill; Nancats Kayla, owner - Christine Hansen & Nancy Healey; a female kitten with name pending, owner - Ruth Hodges; Goldenmagi All Star George Brett, owner - Teri Kamaunu; Millwood Razz, owner - Jean Mill; Sunbright Spirit Guide, owner - Lynn Schafer-Russell; Mainstreet's Budding Rose Ette, owner - Debbie & Rick Corns; Goldenmagi Apache of Desertstar, owner - can you guess? You all must have had more coffee than me this morning! Yep, I'm the proud owner of this sweet F4 boy! --- that is the Brown Spotted division --- Junglebook Raisin Cane, owner - Leslie Hall --- Seal Sepia Spotted Tabby division.

The rosettes went to, in no particular order or amounts of finals: Calcattas Custom Made, Goldenmagi Praha, and Wildgold's Hercules. I'm sure I missed some one, so please don't think I'm ignoring you. All of these babies could have walked away with one or all of the finals. I've said it before, if I could find a tent large enough for me to wear around the show hall (of course not look conspicuous at all), I would sneak all the beautiful babies home with me. However, I don't think the owners would appreciate that, so I won't.

I do have a question though for all you breeders, why is it my boy at almost 5 months looks so big at home and in the benching area, but when I put him in the judging cages, he shrinks?! It certainly can't be all the older BIG boys, can it?

Okay, on with the report. The adults were represented by: Dawnstar Wildest Dreams, owner - Anita Klinger; Joykatz Saiph of Desertstar, owner - Me, the one and only (thank God!); Goldenmagi King Cheetah, owner - Pam Sharp; Pons Purrs Yukon of Catspawbengals, owner - June Wilson --- Brown Marble division --- Starbengal Mirage of Kalanikats, owner - Tatyana Kalani; Dawnstar Rude Awakening, owner - Anita Klinger; Elite Bengal Tapout, owner - Juan & Maribel Gonzalez; Millwood Brickle, owner - Jean Mill; Koppiekatz Twilight of Dreamland, owner - Chuck & Connie Pealer; Koppiekatz Shadow Dancer, owner - Viki & Bruce Safley; Pinyonpride Etched Illusion, owner - Mary Jo Bullock; Dreamland Snow of Catspawbengals, owner June Wilson; Bengoria Klondike of Catspawbengals, owner - June Wilson; Starbengal Sahara of Klanikats, owner - Natasha Kalani; Bengalxpress Zackary, owner - Rhonda Hauffe; Wildvision Buckshot, owner - Barbara & Tom Quiring --- Brown Spotted division --- Pinyonpride Serendipity, owner - Mary Jo Bullock; --- Seal Sepia Marble division --- Wildvision Komet, owner - Barbara & Tom Quiring ---Seal Mink Spotted division --- Catatude Snow Flurry, owner - John & Virginia Murtlow; Silvergene Dulce De Leche, owner - Rick Palmer & Dr. Linda Evans --- Seal Marble Lynx division ---

The rosettes went to, and in no particular order or amount of finals: Elitebengal Tapout, Starbengal Mirage of Kalnikats, Starbengal Sahara of Kalanikats; Dawnstar Wildest Dreams; Dawnstar Rude Awakening; Wildvision Buckshot, Dreamland Snow of Catspawbengals, Wildvision Komet, and Joykatz Saiph of Desertstar.

I have a couple of special mentions. First a big congratulations to Wildvision Buckshot, who made Grand Champion at this show. Both his grandparents came from me, so I feel especially proud of this boy! The next big pat on the back goes to my boy Saiph. He is the oldest cat at the show at 6 years and 2 months old, and became a Double Grand Champion at this show. Also, my baby boy, Apache, even though he didn't receive any finals, he did get a couple of color placings. For his first show, he was very well behaved, and seemed very relaxed for the most part being handled by the judges. I am very proud of my babies, and I throughly enjoyed being at the show.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the breeders who are making such strides with this breed. These cats just take my breath away! And as I have said on more than one occasion, any and all of these animals could walk away with all the rosettes. Maybe next time we can all name our cats the same thing, so I won't have to do so much typing!

pawprint With warmest of spotted bellies!
